Customize Your Shutters with Craftsman Shutter Frames in Washington DC
It doesn’t happen often, but we’ve heard a Washington DC homeowner or two claim that “all shutters look the same.” Let’s eliminate any misconception – those claims couldn’t be further from the truth.
Many people don’t realize just how many options you have when it comes to custom plantation shutters in Washington DC, and the huge impact those options may have. One of the most important of those options is the frame style you choose for your shutters.
Washington DC Custom Shutter Frames
Your options for shutter frames will depend a few different things:
-
How your window opens and shuts.
-
The depth of the window sill.
-
Whether you need to have an inside or outside mount.
-
Your own personal taste.
Some of our shutter frames are offered only in certain materials, such as our Polywood® faux wood shutters, a few are only available with an inside or outside mount of a window, and some might just look better than others with your existing trim, like our Craftsman frame shutters, ideal for Craftsman style homes and offered exclusively by Sunburst.
Here are some of the most commonly picked shutter frames for Washington DC homeowners.
Craftsman Frame Shutters - You can’t turn on an episode of Flip or Flop without seeing Craftsman style. This Sunburst-exclusive frame was created especially for Craftsman style homes and homes that utilize Craftsman elements. A Craftsman frame offers a clean and simple look, so no part of your home looks “overdesigned” compared to the rest. If echoing some historic home style is what you want, this is your shutter frame. Currently offered in Polywood and reclaimed wood shutters only.
L-Frame Shutters - An L-frame is probably the least complex and most practical frame we offer. They have a smooth, contemporary look, and tend to be the easiest to work around for specialty windows. The L-frame can function as both an outside and inside mount, in case you want to keep your existing window trim, and is offered in every single one of our shutters.
Z-Frame Shutters - Z-frames are a widely-chosen style because they offer a stylish, sophisticated look on your window, similar to crown or bass molding. This frame is called a “Z-frame” because of the shape of its exterior, which is mounted on the inside of the window jamb, but hugs the jamb and extends to the outside in a “Z” shape. That wrapping shape lets it substitute for window trim if you don’t have any existing trim. Z-frames are available in for all of our shutter products.
Decorative Frame Shutters - A decorative frame is all about style. With stylish texture and an elegant shape, this frame works best for windows without any trim, or if you want to cover your existing trim. Decorative frames are available in Polywood faux wood and Ovation hardwood shutters.
